It’s a shame that most other PS5 games don’t even come close to utilizing these features to their full potential. After releasing a full-sized holiday level and teasing an unreleased level at the PlayStation XP Tournament Final in London, Team Asobi officially confirmed a second wave of DLC levels for Astro Bot. Unlike the first DLC, these levels would focus more on platforming and offer a time attack version with online leaderboards once completed for the first time. That said, it’s rather easy to get sucked into the charm of Astro Bot and get lost in the nostalgia of it all. I mean, when there are so many collectibles and elements going on, it may seem like a lot. As I had a head start on playing the title (and absolutely loved it), I’m here to relay eight tips and tricks that’ll make your playthrough that much more fun.
The game is very streamline I would have thought no way I am missing this stuff lol. In addition to new levels, Sony as part of its June State of Play announced a new limited-edition Astro Bot DualSense controller, one with a slightly different expression from a previous Astro Bot controller. That controller is still not available for preorder, though Sony said it will launch later this year and that it would have more information to share soon. Part of Astro Bot’s success was the lengthy development time and attention given to the game. Oh, and special mention must be made for the soundtrack, which is just excellent throughout. Astro Bot also manages to find the right balance of difficulty. There are some levels in here that almost had me pulling my hair out (in the best sort of way). But regardless of the difficulty scale, you feel so cool when you figure out the latest mechanics or platforming puzzle. It’s structured in a way too where if you want to dig into the difficult stuff you can, but if you want to keep things simple with the main campaign, you can also do that. I grudged having to play through my most anticipated game of the year before getting to play more Astro Bot – that’s how good this game is.

There are 300 bots to find, and many are pulled from the wider world of gaming. Plenty of the branded bots originate outside of Sony’s stable, with big hitters from Capcom, Konami and Sega represented well — a few of them definitely made my partner yell in excitement, which was adorable in its own right. Some of the more memorable levels stem from popular Sony franchises like God of War, with Astro wielding Kratos’ ax on one planet. The studio’s roster of delightful robots and the inventive gameplay with which they and players interact have been compared with the Nintendo way. Once you drain the blue hourglass and bust through the ceiling, head over to the right of the new platform, past the circular gray disk with the lever on top. Drop off the side and walk through the sand waterfall here, defeating the two pink enemies. You’ll find yourself in a small cave that has a bot at the back. There are seven bots in “Trapped In Time.” You’ll find the first two before you go inside the cave section of the level, the next three inside the cave, and the final two once you leave the cave. I don’t know if I’ve ever played a platformer before where I enjoyed literally every single boss fight and level, but I can confidently say that about Astro Bot. The stages constantly surprise and delight as they take full advantage of the PS5’s hardware. Astro Bot levels are beautiful, brought to life by genius art direction and some of the best graphics on the PS5. It all feels so alive thanks to how the DualSense controller reacts to what players see on the screen, with Astro Bot making great use of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and speaker.
Trapped In Time Overview

Armored Hardcore is the last Astro Bot DLC stage in the Vicious Void galaxy and rewards players with an Assassin’s Creed Cameo Bot. From bot #4, once you cross the big stone bridge, destroy both purple snakes.
